Catching up

It's been a bit of a crazy week... the old too much to do, to little time syndrome. Although I am getting caught up on the "30 paintings in 30 days" challenge hosted by Leslie Saeta, and even working to get a bit ahead.

The following series of spring flowers were created with Twinkling H2o Watercolors by LuminArt. I bought these some time ago, and re-discovered them last week. I have found that they do not give the effect I prefer on the gesso texture backgrounds. Experimentation is fun, even when things don't turn out the way I wish. The first three are watercolor over gesso, the fourth is a watercolor.
Snowdrop (#7)
Purple Crocus (#8)
Blue/Purple Salvia (#9)
Purple Spires ACEO (#10)
I'm having a hard time getting photos that show the true color. The two blue/purple flowers are actually both a darker purple. I'm not sure if the iridescent paints are causing the color loss, or if it's just the low light this time of year. I'll keep tweaking it.

Still working on other canvases, including a few that I started some time ago and haven't quite finished. I'll have more to show soon!

Hope your week is going well!

Beautiful work! The water colours over the gesso works really well. I love the textured look it gives :)

All of them are really nice, but my favorite is the salvia. I don't get true colors on my computer either, but I wonder what color they show up on the viewer's screen. Could be entirely different.

Nice colors in these paintings! 30 paintings in a month is a very ambitious goal. Good for you!

Hello Helen,
I'm visiting PPF for the first time today and loving it. It's all so inspiring.
I certainly can relate to your comment on how difficult it is to allocate enough time for your artwork. I'm having the same trouble.
Your flowers are so beautiful and the colours look great although I can relate to the light issue.

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for sharing ;D

Your flowers are lovely and you reminded me to take out my twinkling H20s hidden away in a drawer. Wishing you a creative and happy new year.
