More Abstract Flowers

I'm on an abstract flower kick right now... they are a bit addicting. Here's a bit of what was finished, or mostly finished or still in the works this week:

As an aside, I would like to say thank you to Sean Freeman at Einstein Design for helping me make my logo a reality. I met him at The Smartest Artist Collaberative Group on Facebook, and he is fabulous to work with! Thank you, Sean! You rock!

What's in my Studio

Wise words from this mornings Yogi teabags:

"May you have faith in your worth and act with wisdom"
"Have wisdom in your actions and faith in your merit"

Isn't it fun when teabag wisdom echoes a theme in one pot of tea? It takes two bags to brew a nice little pot to enjoy, and these had a message for me. Oh, by the way, it was Chai Green Tea, which Yogi no longer makes, so I'm savoring what I have left... :)

Several projects going on this week... but when I grabbed the camera (we almost had a sun break, I was so excited!) I'd just been playing with Gelli Plate printed chipboard bits and my shape cutting Big Kick making some hearts...

You can see some map covered chipboard and a sheet of gelli-printed paper hanging out also. And that's what I'm working on right now, as I'm enjoying my tea.

What are you working on today?

Happy Autumn!

The Autumn Sedum in the garden is deepening in color.
With the rain and wind and chilly weather, it appears that autumn has fully arrived.
May I say that I already miss summer? :)

Abstract from the Garden

Two WIP gesso and watercolor abstract paintings completed this week, in between a variety of other projects. These are both on 140# watercolor paper and measure 3 x 4 inches. Yes, I like doing miniature art. :)

  Sunflower 3 x 4

Three Orange Tulips 3 x 4

I have more in progress, and hope that I'm happier with the results as I continue on.

What's in my Studio

This week I've been working on some abstract gesso and watercolor paintings, inspired by my garden... The sunflowers are in full glorious bloom! (Have I mentioned I'm quite fond of sunflowers?)

Here are a couple of the works in progress.

The flowers textures are gesso "paintings". I'm in the process of adding watercolor paint on top of the gesso. A few more layers, and then the finishing work begins. This technique was learned from Carla Sonheim.

I'll have finished pieces to share shortly.

Great Blue Heron

Wandering the garden on a gray day. I already miss the sunshine and have been planning our January sojourn to Phoenix, all the while busy creating for the Holiday Arts Festival.

While I was in the garden just enjoying the gray, (it does have it's beauty) a juvenile Great Blue Heron flew overhead, a rare treat. I'm usually elsewhere when they fly over, although I can tell their call. This fellow looked like he was landing on the roof, so I climbed the berm and discovered him atop the Cypress tree in the front yard. He was most gracious! He allowed me to go inside to grab the camera, and even posed prettily while I took several shots...

Isn't he gorgeous?

Inspired by the Heron, I've started a mixed media piece that is nowhere near done. I have the basic background of vintage bookpage and a couple of layers of paint, and created a design by taking off paint with a rubber stamp.

There will be a heron on here some time soon...  :)

On another note, I've been working on partially finished pieces, including this abstract trail through the woods painting.

Besides paint, I've added some bits of mulberry paper and textured ribbon as the trail. It's getting closer!

Hope your week has been good!

Sunflower

Wandering the garden this morning... noticing the bees are still busy.

Sunflowers make a gray morning much brighter.

Happy Wednesday!
