HuMp DaY Haiku - Memories

It's five years today
Remembering her smile
Wanting one more hug

Remembering my beautiful daughter today...

And debating whether I'll continue Hump Day Haiku. While this may be the last Hump Day Haiku post,  it certainly won't be my last haiku. We'll see how it feels next week.  :)

I have found that creating a haiku (non rhyming poem with 5 - 7 - 5 syllables per line) feeds my soul. I especially like creating them to go with my photos and art.

Blue Delphinium

Still playing with watercolors, ala Carla Sonheim. The class is officially over, however I'm still having fun working on the various techniques. I love being able to go back and re-watch the instructional videos. I always find some new little tidbit that inspires me all over again.

This piece still needs another layer of transparent color and a tiny bit of touch up and detailing. More to come soon. :)

Memories of SeARTle

I just spent a wonderful weekend with a group of artists in West Seattle, which I co-hosted with my friend Martha. It was a fun weekend and I had a marvelous time and met new friends as well as visited with old friends. I need to learn to relax just a bit more, quit taking care of everyone else and just sit and art. *says a couple of my arty friends* I'll work on that. :)

Here are a few pictures of our weekend...

HuMp DaY Haiku - Helpers

Scary news again
Stay focused on the helpers
Love will see us through

I adore Mr. Rogers, and had to share this quote regarding the recent "scary news". My prayers go out to those affected by the bombings in Boston.

I'm focusing on the helpers, the caring people of this world.

I have found that creating a haiku (non rhyming poem with 5 - 7 - 5 syllables per line) feeds my soul. I especially like creating them to go with my photos and art.

Surround Yourself

Shared by my niece on Facebook, I thought this worth sharing here.

I've had a few incidents recently with friends who neglected to follow through on their commitments; who find excuses not to do what they said they wanted to do, or not support what they said they wanted to support.
I guess I come from a different reality. I rarely start something I am not totally committed to seeing through to the end, and bailing on one of my commitments or dreams isn't going to happen. Of course dreams change, but some folks dreams change as soon as the going gets tough.

I want to be a successful artist, and am constantly working toward that. I want to have successful Etsy shops and am continually working on them, learning and tweaking and promoting. I am doing the work to make it happen. NOTHING is dropped into your lap, it all comes of being persistent and working and making it happen. And as you are creating good energy the good energy comes to you.

Where you will be in five years depends on the books you read, the people you associate with, and the things (inspirational CDs/podcasts/etc) you listen to. I choose to continue to learn my craft and surround myself with folks who are as committed as I am to reaching their dreams, and those who stay with their commitments.

That may mean releasing a few friendships that are not longer nurturing and supportive for me.

I choose to surround myself ONLY with people who are going to lift me HIGHER.

Sunny Disposition

I love sunflowers, they look cheerful even on a gray day. Okay, I know it's going to be a long time until they are blooming here, but I love them year round.

Created some time ago, this tiny 3 x 3 inch painting is available in my Etsy shop.

Remembering Jen

Never hesitating to try something new,
you left before we were ready.

Alive in our memories,
you are always in our hearts.

I'll always remember.

Happy Birthday beautiful girl.

HuMp Day Haiku - Splash of Blue

Splash of blue heralds
it's spring; so cheery among
the rain drenched garden.

I have found that creating a haiku (non rhyming poem with 5 - 7 - 5 syllables per line) feeds my soul. I especially like creating them to go with my photos and art.

Early Spring Delights

I actually had the day off when the sun was shining week! Wandering about the yard without rain gear was delightful. I spotted these little violets at the bottom of the garden steps... nestled next to a blue eyed grass clump. Both plants re-seed themselves about the yard at will, and we generally allow them to grow wherever they appear.

Do you see the little heart peering up at you?

HuMp Day Haiku - Ready

View of green house plants
Growing for summer gardens
Waiting for the sun

I love this abstract looking shot of plants, from the outside of the glass green house. They are getting all ready for warm weather and summer gardens. The warm is coming... I'm certain of it.

I have found that creating a haiku (non rhyming poem with 5 - 7 - 5 syllables per line) feeds my soul. I especially like creating them to go with my photos and art.
