A year or so ago, I started doing Hump Day Haiku with Carla Sonheim's Silly classes and decided as a challenge for myself, I'd continue. I have found that creating a haiku (non rhyming poem with 5 - 7 - 5 syllables per line) feeds my soul. I especially like creating them to go with my photos and art.

Textured Seascape

Working on too many things... but this is one I'd like to share with my friends at Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin. 

This is an 8 x 8 inch canvas, textured with molding paste, painted with acrylic paints and embellished with lace, threads, papers and buttons. Not all pieces are firmly glued down yet, I'm still playing around with the layout. 

I've worked on a few other textured landscapes this week... more on those later.

Mini art

Working like crazy to have enough to fill the Holiday Festival booth, or rather at least to FEEL like I have enough! The event runs from Nov 18 - Dec 24, so I will have time to make things to refill the booth if I haven't made enough. I really need to relax, but who has the time? *wink*

This is part of what I've worked on this week... and these are not quite finished. 

One or two of these may also make it to my Etsy shop... if I have time!

I'm in a bumpy winding place right now, so am keeping my focus on getting to the gorgeous view just ahead. I know it's there, just have to hang on for another curve or two.

Annual trek to the Mountain

The rains have returned and will be here for months. I already miss the sun.

I AM grateful for the water for the plants and trees. 

And I am grateful that I have recent memories of a beautiful day "on the mountain" with my husband at Artist Point near Mount Baker. My honey's goal is to go one of the last days before the fall rains hit. Fall rain in Bellingham is snow at Mount Baker, and they close the road up to Artist Point not to reopen until mid-summer when it thaws. We were there the very last nice day. Score! 

We took a short hike toward Chain Lakes... the picture above shows the view above is near the start of the trail. Mount Baker, the Great White Watcher is peeking at us through the trees. Highland blueberries provide the deep red color. 

The colors were spectacular this year! 

This shot was taken along the trail down to Bagley Lake at Austin Pass, looking back up the hill. 

And this is the view from our picnic table at Austin Pass. Nice, don't you think? 

A glorious day to remember on a gray, rainy day like today. 

Autumn Sedum

I love how the Autumn Sedum blossoms frequently grown in a heart shape! You can barely see the little chickadee metal sculpture that has been engulfed by the plant as the summer progressed.

Differences aside

I thought it interesting that these two ducks were sitting in the weeds along the edge of a small pond, I believe the one is front is a Teal, the one in the back is a Mallard. They were happily sitting and enjoying the sun together.

Altered Book Pages

This week I did my first demo at the store where I work part time... playing with altered book pages.

Here's a bit of what I shared:

Still blooming

Most of my summer flowers have finished their blooming, However these lovely hardy fuchsias are still going strong. They do encourage me. And the leaves are starting to change, so the colors of nature continue.

So much to do, so little time. I'm wondering how I'll have time to sleep with all I need to get ready for the Allied Arts Holiday Festival... a booth to get assembled, art to get finished, and very little time to do it all with my work schedule this month. O.o
My Etsy shops are keeping me hopping too; a good thing!

And so, you'll see very little of me here for a short while. Our Hump Day Haiku will continue, but probably not much more than that until I feel like I'm ready for the show.
