Textured Seascape

Working on too many things... but this is one I'd like to share with my friends at Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin.

This is an 8 x 8 inch canvas, textured with molding paste, painted with acrylic paints and embellished with lace, threads, papers and buttons. Not all pieces are firmly glued down yet, I'm still playing around with the layout.

I've worked on a few other textured landscapes this week... more on those later.

Thanks for stopping by!

Resisting Autumn

I've been playing around with this canvas for a while...

Started with a couple layers of green acrylic paint, then lightly stenciled some leaves

I decided I wanted some script in the background, so layered with script stamped on tissue.

I applied beeswax to meld in the tissue, and added a die cut tree. I liked it.

I decided to try out a friends favorite technique of applying Diamond Glaze over the beeswax... I'm not so sure I like it so shiny. Hmmm...
You'll notice I added some paint dyed ribbon and beads to the canvas.

I'm not sure it's quite done... but it's getting there. :)

I've been resisting the thought of autumn arriving, as I'd rather have a bit more summer weather, thank you very much! However, since I love the colors of autumn, I may as well embrace it's impending arrival.

Happy Friday, everyone!

I'm sharing with Eva and Kristin at Paint Party Friday. I hope you have time to see what some of the other artists have been up to this week.

Scattered - but productive

It's been a scattered week... best laid plans and all that. Dealing with some changes that are disrupting my usual flow has been challenging. Although I did have a quiet day today, and completed a couple of small pieces for my Etsy shop. Both are mixed media collages using beeswax to meld it all together. I just love beeswax!

The large (for me) canvas I started last week is still looking at me, wondering what else will appear. I have a couple of ideas and haven't yet figured out how to execute them.

I started an 8x10 canvas board in the same style... papers, brayered paint and this one has stenciling.

And here they both sit in the studio... ideas percolating as I see them each time I come into the room.

Because it's that time of the week, I'm sharing with Paint Party Friday, hosted by the fabulous Eva and Kristin! I hope you have time to check out some of the other PPF artists! They always inspire me!

Paint Party Friday

It's always fun to participate in Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin

This week has been busy and stressful, however I was able to finish a small piece for my second "Art Only" Etsy shopI'll be added some pieces to it throughout the weekend.  My first Etsy shop  will morph into mostly vintage ephemera and other vintage items.

This piece is an ACEO sized mixed media canvas (3 1/2 x 2 1/2), created with layers of  vintage book pages, acrylic paints, stenciling, (all left over from another project) and inks.
The heart is leftover painted paper pieces adhered to heavy back chipboard, cut out and varnished.

All these bits and pieces left over from other projects worked together to create this little canvas.

Have a wonderful Friday, everyone! And do stop in to see what the other fabulous PPF artists are working on this week.

Paint Party Friday - Heart with wings

Happy Paint Party Friday everyone! This fun weekly event is hosted by Eva and Kristin.

This week I worked on a variety of things, but what I'm showing is this small 3x3 canvas. I painted this with acrylics, no intention in mind initially.

I also just finished this little heart, by tinting and adding the wings, with the intent to place on a canvas, but hadn't determined what background.

And decided to see if they go together. Hmmm... The canvas should be larger, and I'm unsure the colors go well. But it's given me ideas, and that's the name of the game.

For my birthday, I've treated myself to the "The Art of Moving Forward" in Anacortes, where I'll be this weekend learning all kinds of information about how to have a successful art business. I'll be by to visit you all as soon as I can when I'm back. In the meantime, have a fabulous weekend!

And hey, if you have time, check out the Treasury I just created on Etsy for a Team Challenge "In the Woods".

Paint Party Friday - Sunflower

I've had a bug this week, with a lot of congestion and a bad cough (my darling husband shares everything with me *grin*) so wasn't up to much but reading and sleeping and drinking a lot of tea with honey.

One thing I did work on was this little 3x3 mixed media canvas. Latest layer is beeswax. Not sure what else I'll add... or maybe it's done.

Paint Party Friday - Scattered

It's another Paint Party Friday!  Here's a bit of what I worked on this week:

I worked on a spread from the Doodles Unleashed Workshop...

I played with Carla Sonheim's Imaginary Animals technique.  It needs more shading...

And I started a textured landscape canvas painting, using acrylics. This 5 x 5 x 2 inches, and is embedded with dried lavender buds. After the first applications of paint, I can see I'm going to need to do a lot more "poking" of the brush into the crevices. :)

I've determined that I have too many things going on all at once. No wonder I'm feeling a bit scattered. :)
