Landscapes in progress

I've had a busy week. Appointments with son and doctors, training on my new part time job, meeting with art friends. And I'm proud that almost every morning, I worked on painting something. Yay for me! *laughing*

This is the third (yes third) rendition of this sunset mountain landscape, still a work in progress. In my first two versions, my mountain was too dark, and my foreground trees did not show up as I wished. So I've painted my mountain again a bit lighter and still have the trees add.
I see in the photo that I'll need to touch up the sky... paint splatters. How did I do THAT, I wonder? Perhaps I should just start over from scratch. :)

I also worked on this little canvas, which I'd started a bit ago. It still needs a lot of work, and will have more textural bits incorporated into it.

There are a few others in progress but photos did not work out, so this is all I'm sharing today.
Thanks for stopping by!

I'm playing along with Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin. You must check out what the other artists have created this week. It's sure to inspire you!

Love the mountain with the evening sky, something that always gives me chills of pleasure and makes me think how small we are in this huge world given to us by the Creator.

The second is neat with all the texture, can't wait to see what develops.

Gee whiz, I thought I left a comment but it did not show up! I love the mountain with the evening sky because that always gives me chills of pleasure and reminds me of how lucky we are to be in this world given us by the Creator. The second is neat-o with texture, can't wait to see what's next!

PPF is like going to class for me. When you share the progress of a painting it is so inspirational. The texture you have used in your second painting is amazing.

It sounds like you had a busy week yet took time to paint every day. That is inspiring and what I need to do. I like all of the pieces that you are working but really like the textured piece.

Rich mountains and fantastic textures! I wonder why we notice things more once we view our artwork as a photograph... Same thing happened to me after posting my painting this morning... saw all the places that lacked shadows and some glaring mishaps here and there. Any ideas on why a photograph lifts out those things?

Don't start again, work with what it is and you may be surprised what little mistakes can lead to. I've had work apparently destroyed by one single mishap only to have it work out better because of the mistake. Paint splatters could be birds for example?

In any case I adore the orange sky against the blue mountain, powerful beginning.

And an interesting texture in the second painting. I'm interested to see what it will look like when it is finished.

Best wishes,
Liz
