Scratch Art Tree

I spent a lovely afternoon with a dear friend this past week, catching up and trying a color and scratch art technique. This was the result.
We started with oil pastels, laying down color in random. Then covered the entire piece with black oil pastel. Using a stencil, which we held down with a large "chip clip", we scratched around the stencil to reveal the color underneath. It was quite relaxing to do this as we visited.

When I have a bit more time (soon!) I'll play more with this technique.

Joining Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin.

What a beautiful silhouette and all that color in the background. I love this technique and look forward to seeing more of your work with it.
