Wandering the garden on a gray day. I already miss the sunshine and have been planning our January sojourn to Phoenix, all the while busy creating for the Holiday Arts Festival.
While I was in the garden just enjoying the gray, (it does have it's beauty) a juvenile Great Blue Heron flew overhead, a rare treat. I'm usually elsewhere when they fly over, although I can tell their call. This fellow looked like he was landing on the roof, so I climbed the berm and discovered him atop the Cypress tree in the front yard. He was most gracious! He allowed me to go inside to grab the camera, and even posed prettily while I took several shots...
Isn't he gorgeous?
Inspired by the Heron, I've started a mixed media piece that is nowhere near done. I have the basic background of vintage bookpage and a couple of layers of paint, and created a design by taking off paint with a rubber stamp.
There will be a heron on here some time soon... :)
On another note, I've been working on partially finished pieces, including this abstract trail through the woods painting.
Besides paint, I've added some bits of mulberry paper and textured ribbon as the trail. It's getting closer!
Hope your week has been good!
