HuMp DaY Haiku - Dreams of warmer days

Dreams of warmer days
Beautiful pink sunrises
Time to call my own

I'm officially tired of cold, rainy weather and looking forward to warmer days ahead. Just wanted to mention it. *wink*

I have found that creating a haiku (non rhyming poem with 5 - 7 - 5 syllables per line) feeds my soul. I especially like creating them to go with my photos and art.

Live Creatively!

Jason Hogan © 2013
“Be brave enough to live creatively.
The creative is the place where no one else has been.
You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition.
You cannot get there by bus, only by hard work, risking and by not quite knowing what you are doing.
What you will discover will be wonderful: Yourself.”
~ Alan Alda

I love this quote... shamelessly stolen from a FaceBook post by my favorite artist, Carla SonheimThe artwork is by my son, Jason Hogan, who is being brave and participating in his first Artwalk, next Friday March 1! Yay for Jason! His art will be displayed at the Max Higbee Center in Bellingham.

HuMp DaY Haiku - Llama

Theo the llama
Alone for most of his day
Loves a visitor

On a sunny day lunch-time visit with husband while working "at the farm", I finally got to meet Theo, the llama. Theo has no company during the day, he's a lonely little llama.

He loves to have his back scratched

and will give you a snuffle (or chew on your hair) in appreciation.

He even poses looking regal, if you smile nicely at him.

And the greatest of these...

I worked on a spread for our local altered book exchange this past week. It's our last one and while part of me is sad it's ending, a bigger part is relieved. Even though I enjoyed working in all the books, it was becoming a burden to do them while my creative energy is so low. This took me a week! I'd paint a layer and go to work, add some ink and go visit my son in the hospital, another layer and off to work again. :)

Here is the spread:
The theme of the book is "All you need is Love"

Various layers of paint, stenciling, paint, inks, with heart ribbons, layered hearts, sticker letters and felt hearts, pitt pen and sparkly gel pen. It was fun, however long it took me to finish. ;)

And while I wasn't able to attend our local art group on Sunday, I did send some tiny valentine tags to share with the artsy ladies.

HuMp DaY Haiku - Time off

I'm too tired for words
No creative energy
Time to take a break

Hoping to have a bit of time to take a walk in the woods... although it won't be as lush this picture quite yet. Not sure when that can happen. So many other demands on my time. I'm working on releasing a few of them.

If it's not giving you good energy, it's time to let it go.

I have found that creating a haiku (non rhyming poem with 5 - 7 - 5 syllables per line) feeds my soul. I especially like creating them to go with my photos and art.

Puzzled!

I spent my Sunday visiting my son, and finishing a puzzle in the "rec" room at the place where he's recovering (he's doing well!) from his total hip replacement surgery just over three weeks ago.

This puzzle was in progress when he arrived at the facility, and we all have worked on it in bits and pieces over the past week and a half he's been here.

So on Sunday, Jason and I marathon-ed through to finish it! Yay! It was a lovely afternoon.
And that piece we just couldn't find... actually WAS missing. Right in the middle.

Have a fabulous Monday!

Angels

I believe in Angels... they appear in the least likely places to offer words of encouragement.

All will be well.

HuMp DaY Haiku - Love in Mind

Thinking back a bit...
memories of a special gift
made with love in mind.

There are some gifts I make that hold special meaning. This was part of a prayer flag for a friend going through a difficult period, and it was indeed a labor of love. I so enjoyed the process. I need to create my own Love prayer flag... it's time.

A year or so ago, I started doing Hump Day Haiku with Carla Sonheim's Silly classes and decided as a challenge for myself, I'd continue. I have found that creating a haiku (non rhyming poem with 5 - 7 - 5 syllables per line) feeds my soul. I especially like creating them to go with my photos and art.

Hope

There is something so hopeful about a Hellebore

blooming in the midst of a cold rainy winter.

To keep our faces toward change

and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate

is strength undefeatable.

Helen Keller

P.S. And something quite frustrating with blogger throwing in extra spaces this morning. ;)

Scratch Art Tree

I spent a lovely afternoon with a dear friend this past week, catching up and trying a color and scratch art technique. This was the result.
We started with oil pastels, laying down color in random. Then covered the entire piece with black oil pastel. Using a stencil, which we held down with a large "chip clip", we scratched around the stencil to reveal the color underneath. It was quite relaxing to do this as we visited.

When I have a bit more time (soon!) I'll play more with this technique.
