Last week just before the full moon we were camping in the dry side of Washington State. The moon was so bright - the night before it was full. We could walk about without requiring a flashlight to see where we were going.
I've since been playing with drawing/painting moons. Not well, mind you. Just playing around to see what happens. This piece is using water soluble oil pastels. It was too dark for good photos today (darn rain), so this doesn't bring out the color variations. But you get the idea.
I'll keep playing around, and eventually get the look I want.
Happy Friday!

Beautiful photo and painting, the moon is always so fascinating. Valerie
Interesting idea to paint the moon. Your photo and the blue moon are both lovely, that's quite an amazing photo.
Gorgeous Harvest moon and painting!!

I think you've just about got the moon already. Looks great.
We all look at the same moon. How great is that! Hi Helen, hope you are doing good. Camping sounds fun, it's been a long time since we ventured out to camp. It kink your moon is coming along beautifully. Love it! Have a great weekend.😀
You achieved some wonderful texture in this moon. Isn't it fun to just play and see what comes out?
Blessing hugs,
Teresa
Wonderful images Helen,
I used to look at the moon and think about my family 12,000 miles away but now I'm nearer to them. I still love to gaze at the moon and your painting is just perfect.
The colour and texture are great.
Thanks for sharing.
Happy PPF to you... waving from Bonnie Scotland ;D
I really like your moon - looks like it's spinning around in the sky.
I saw that wonderful super moon, too--only from the mid-Willamette Valley in neighboring Oregon.
I LOVE your painting of that extraordinary, magical moon--it is just perfect.
You captured the beauty of the moon so well! Looks lovely!
