Petal heart

Walking out to work in the garden a couple of days ago, I spied this petal on the step to the deck, near one of the little violets that are growing randomly around the yard.  It looks bit like a heart to me. Don't you think so too?
Just a little reminder from the universe that I am loved, all is well.

HuMp DaY Haiku - Fairy Bells

I've always wondered...
Why call this flower fox glove
when they're fairy bells?

With the recent mostly-warm weather, the fox glove are coming into bloom. They grow taller and the blossoms open almost as we're watching. I love this time of year!

I started doing Hump Day Haiku with Carla Sonheim's Silly classes...  and decided as a challenge for myself, I'd continue.  In this process, I have found that creating a haiku (non rhyming poem with 5 - 7 - 5 syllables per line) feeds my soul.
I especially like creating them to go with my photos and art.

Ski to Sea Success!

Today I'm promoting an artist friend of mine, Pam Holladay.

Her interpretation of our Ski to Sea race, which is happening here in Bellingham this weekend, will be on display at the Whatcom Art Guild's, Art by the Lake. I plan to be there tomorrow at the grand opening event to cheer her on.

She also had her painting featured on the front page of today's Bellingham Herald's Take Five Magazine! How cool is that?

I'm so very proud of her, and especially proud to call her my friend!

Way to go, Pam!

I have not completed a painting this week, but wanted to share Pam's success with the fabulous artists at Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin. Do check in with the other artists to see what creativeness they've been doing this week.  I hope you all forgive my showing off my friend's fabulous art. :)

HuMp DaY Haiku - Ladybug

Fluffs of white in bloom
Late spring bounty - snowball tree!

I couldn't resist this little ladybug as I was trying to get a good picture of the snowball tree blossoms.

Garden Magic

A poppy just beginning to open, taken during my morning walk around the garden.

Late afternoon that same day. So close, yet still not open as darkness fell.

We woke to this beauty happily enjoying the early morning.

Movement

I've been working on an altered book spread off and on the past few weeks. The theme for this book is "Movement", and it's the first one I'm working on in our local art group's altered book exchange.

I knew what I wanted to do, but my first attempts did not translate as I wished. So... painting over the water area with lumiere paints, I added my original haiku to the page, along with a bit of glitter for the sparkling.

Sunlight peeking through
Rivers sparkling reflection
Swallow soars with joy

While it's still not quite what I had in mind, I like it. And since it's for someone else, I hope they like it too!

I'm playing with Paint Party Friday today, hosted by Eva and Kristin. Check in with the other artists to see what creativeness they've been doing this week.

HuMp DaY Haiku - Blow a Wish

Blowing hopeful wish
Love, joy, peace, and contentment
Happiness doubled

I'm focusing on this hopeful wish.
